6-Car 7000-Series Trains on the DC Metro
The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) began configuring 7000-Series trains into 6-car sets for the DC Metro, in lieu of the retirement of the 2000-Series in early 2024. Under General Manager Randy Clarke, this initiative was part of a plan to optimize rolling stock, increase frequency and shorten headways.
The 7000-series trains entered service in 2015 as a whole new concept, incompatible with previous designs. Unlike previous series, each married pair includes only one cab car, reducing maintenance costs. This design favors 8-car sets but still allows for 6-car configurations.
As of December 2024, 6-car 7000-series trains are now operating on all six Metro lines, including most recently on the Red Line. However, 8-car sets are still operating on high-demand routes and during peak hours.

I spend the raining Saturday doing this. but started out in Reston went to Ashburn then to Largo then back home. I guess is over 80 miles? Life 360 got 60 but it doesn't work underground very well.

Thank you so much! I can't sing the praises of the TWA Hotel enough. EASILY the best money I've ever spent in my life. I'm trying to bring my homeboy there this year, since I'm molding him into a traveller. On God, I promise you'll love it.
I will say that by the metro map, Benning Road is not the first DC Station in terms of the the diamond shape. Capitol Heights is passed the beginning of it but when you go into Google maps. it show that the station is literally right next to DC but the building is in Maryland so I guess it depends on if your somewhat west or east but you can say Capitol Heights is one of the few stations to basically be a border station. Love the video <3
Thanks for watching. However, Benning Road, per WMATA and the District of Columbia itself, is the first station in DC on the Blue and Silver Lines when going east. I trust WMATA and the District. 😉 Also, the map isn't geographically correct, but designed for readability.

PG Plaza made perfect sense for a name because it reflected the mall nearby and also it is in Prince George's County and the area it is situated in is indeed a plaza like area. A plaza is defined as a public square, marketplace, or similar open space in a built-up area. That's exactly what that area is so wouldn't it make sense to not play games?
@@JavanHamiltonTV a spokesperson said the only reason why people don't like it is cause they are emotionally attached and don't like change and while I can't speak for anyone but myself, I can i am not saying that because I am resistant of change. Ofc my reasons i said above prove that don't they? And also, the white flint to north bethesda actually made sense because that mall no longer exists and that station does serve the northern part of bethesda right? So that i think proves my case even more about how i don't say stuff simply cause of nostalgia like that one spokesperson at metro suggested.

The 6000s too i am so used to those being 8 cars too (mostly) and when i see one thats only 6 cars long it feels strange. The 3000s is kinda different for me i am so used to seeing them as 6 cars and when i see one as 8 cars it feels strange

As of December 15, 2024, the Red Line has returned to automatic train operations (ATO) for the first time since the Fort Totten crash of 2009.
Repainting a fleet in those complex patterns is very time consuming and EXPENSIVE. While it's great to REFRESH the fleet; save some money on IMPROVING CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I can tell the Metro has changed some since I went to DC with my family back in 2011. I am visually impaired, so I am glad they changed the station announcements so they come through more clearly. Back when I went, the train operators announced the stops, and they weren't always good at speaking up. Had I not been accompanied by cited family members, I might have missed my stop.
Thanks for watching. Unfortunately, some of the operators override the computer announcements, which is extremely frustrating.
They're nicer than the generic ones they have on the other airlines.

Yo Javan I have a question for you how do you do the switch from the window view and then switch to the rear view when you make your videos on the dc metro
I rode each line twice (three times, in the case of the Orange Line), capturing the main view in the first take and the rear view in the second take, then carefully editing them together. Each line took between 3 and 6 hours to film.

Yes, I did have to go back and forth. I created my thumbnails in After Effects.
What annoys me is that MARC doesn't connect to SEPTA... but NJT, LIRR, MNCR, and CT Rail does
That's an eventuality. MARC is currently looking to extend services up to SEPTA (not too far from where it currently ends), as well as some sort of southbound partnership with VRE.
